Your proudest product or project
Tell me about the product or project you are most proud of.
Context
What the interviewer is testing: ownership and impact: what the candidate personally drove and how they measured success.
Clarifying questions to ask first
- What was your specific role versus the team's?
- How did you know it was successful? What were the numbers?
- What would you do differently?
How to approach it
- Pick one real, specific story (not a hypothetical or a summary of many)
- Set the scene in two or three sentences, including the stakes
- Spend most of the time on what you personally did and why
- End with a measurable result and what you learned
Framework: STAR: Situation -> Task -> Action -> Result, with a short reflection at the end
Sample answer
- Clear personal contribution
- A measurable outcome
- Mentions users and trade-offs, not just shipping
- Situation: specific context, their role, and why it mattered (stakes)
- Task: what they personally owned
- Action: concrete steps they took, decisions and trade-offs, using "I" not "we"
- Result: measurable outcome, plus what they learned or would do differently
Names the problem and user, explains the key decision they made, quantifies the result (for example, activation up from 30% to 42%), and reflects on what they would change.
